The graft is then sutured onto the coronary artery. If the graft is an internal mammary artery, once the suturing is completed, blood is allowed to flow beyond the blockage of the coronary artery. If the graft is a vein, the other end of the vein is attached to the aorta where blood is allowed to detour or bypass the blockage.
